Interoperability and openBIM facilitate data exchange in the construction sector. However, despite the growing adoption of the IFC format, the use and exploitation of this data remain complex.
In this context, the MIC group has developed Ifc2Data as a central component of its teaching and research activities. It is a web application designed to convert IFC files into structured, directly usable data. With just a few clicks, it allows users to extract relevant information from the elements of a digital model (classifications, materials, properties, quantities and document references) and export it into various formats, such as Excel, CSV, JSON, BSON, SQL, SQLite and Turtle. Its API also facilitates integration with other tools and the automation of data flows.
The platform has received financial support from the inPACT Institute’s impulse fund. It is maintained by the MIC group and made available free of charge to academic and industrial stakeholders.
